The Thames Youth Choir was founded in September 2010 and is comprised of around 40 members aged 14-19 drawn from a mixture of local schools. Entrance is by audition only (see 'How to Join'). The choir's purpose is to provide a vibrant vocal training and choral experience and whilst a number of members have, or are hoping, to go on to Oxbridge choral scholarships, the concentrated and varied performing experience is of equal benefit to everyone who enjoys singing, no matter what goal is in mind. The choir's musical ethos is defined by a performing ambitious and challenging repertoire, combining well established choral repertoire with twentieth century and contemporary works, to a very high standard.

The Thames Youth Choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings during term time between 6.30pm and 8pm at Tiffin School, Kingston and joins the previously established Thames Youth Orchestra and Tiffin Children’s Chorus as part of the commitment of Tiffin School (a boys’ state grammar school with over 50 years of musical excellence) to high quality arts education for the whole community.

Founded and conducted by Philip Viveash, since September 2010 TYC have sung a variety of concerts in and around Kingston, have sung at the Royal Festival Hall, Evensong in Clare College Cambridge and a concert of a cappella repertoire in Ely Cathedral.
